Hair Dilemma

World, meet my future hair:

I have always wanted a short-cropped pixie hair cut. Always. It is with this thought in mind that I've finally considered cutting all my hair off. Given that my hair is boob-length and hasn't seen above my shoulders for several years, this may seem a little bit drastic, but I am so ready to see the back of it. I can't do anything with it at this length. Well, I can, but I can't be bothered to. I wash it, let it dry, barely run a brush through it, and that's it. My GHD's get the occasional usage, but mostly from my thieving mother, who keeps them in her room for days at a time until I notice they're not gathering dust on my shelves and retrieve them.

So, should I take the plunge?

Dreams ... shattered

tommy ton for style.com

I saw these glove mittens (glittens??) on Tommy Ton's street style shots from Fashion week and fell in love. So I searched like the entire internet looking for them (during English class...) and found that they are Steven Alan, leather and cashmere, and cost $85 (which according to xe.com is 56.5248 GBP)

I don't even buy dresses that cost that much (unfortunately), and even if I did have that sort of money, they're not selling them on his site anymore! So my dreams of having warm and stylish hands next autumn/winter are crushed unless someone sells them on ebay for maybe a tenner in the next 6 months. :'(

Pet hates: Leggings

I'd like to say that I lead an exciting life, and many things I do are of consequence... But I'd be lying. The most I get up to in a day does not really amount to much. I get up, go to college, hang with friends, write, eat, sleep...

But today the thoughts flooding my brain have revolved mostly around how ugly and unflattering leggings can be. I've only had one morning class (English Language) today, and whilst considering ways of confusing my mum by telling her she never respects my negative face in linguistic terms, I managed to pass several girls who seemed to think that leggings are an alternative to trousers or jeans, which I'd say they are not. If anything they're an alternative to tights, and would you wear tights on their own with just a short top? I don't think so. You wear them under shorts or a dress or a skirt, and that is exactly how leggings should be worn, if they really must at all.

I can't really explain my dislike for leggings, it's just one of those things, and I think worn right they can look good... on other people. But not me, because you won't find me wearing them.

Success!

I feel really pleased because I bought Barry M Mint Green nail polish in the hopes of reproducing my own high street version of Chanel Jade (because, as I may possibly have mentioned before -hackcough- I'm poor) and yesterday someone asked me if I was wearing Chanel nail polish!!!!!

Success!

once again addressing money issues whilst obsessing over expensive clothes

Being depressingly poor has somehow not stopped me from going shopping, and even if I'd tried to be ignorant of it, it's difficult not to notice the heavy influences of high fashion this season on the high street. Lace, denim, over-sized tshirts with breton stripes, several different takes on nautical, the short trench, and beautiful neutral colours. I am a sucker for minimalism, and I can happily spend a ton of money just on unembellished shirts in a smorgasbord of pastel colours.

... I can't remember where I was going with this, but yeah anyways I think I was just saying that IT IS DEPRESSING that I want to buy EVERYTHING in H&M, New Look and Topshop right now. Especially the former... Everything is so pretty I just want to throw it all into a pile and sit in the middle of it. I don't exactly know what that would achieve, but I feel that it would be incredibly satisfying.

OH AND for the FRTW2010 shows so far, my favourites are A.F. Vandevorst with the beige body armour pieces over flowing, drapey trousers... Plus they drew on their models with chalk which I personally think is pretty immense;

and Elie Saab's ever-beautiful floorlength sheer black gowns that make me wish I was insanely rich just so I can own one. In fact, upon seeing that collection I told my mum...

ME: Mum?
MUM: -pauses tele- yes?
ME: When I'm on the red carpet, I will wear an Elie Saab dress.
MUM: Oh... -rolls eyes and unpauses tele-

style.com

Yeah. So. One day I will be on the red carpet for some reason or other, maybe, and then I will wear Elie Saab. Like Rachel McAdams at this year's Oscars, wearing my most favouritest dress ever!! Oh Elie Saab, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

Countdown to Marc Jacobs;

I've been ridiculously excited about the live online streaming of the Marc Jacobs A/W10 Show since it was announced, and I set the date in my phone calender and have been positively gushing about it ever since!

So tonight, in preparation, I have taken Pro Plus and drank my weight in tea. I drink copious amounts of tea anyway, but I've even outdone myself today I think, so this show better be good!! I'm incredibly hyper!

-----

I actually made notes as though I was some kind of reporter whilst watching this, so let's see if I can make some sense of them...

Adorable Marc Jacobs tugged down the curtain as Robert Duffy (@robertcduffy) had mentioned on Twitter only minutes before, to reveal his models. The theme was definately utility chic; the smooth, suave business feel of the sharply tailored suits was toned down with loose, flowing hair and fresh faces. Little kitten heels in neutral colours were paired with socks for an older, more womanly feel, rather than cutesy (I felt).

Flowing materials in soft pastels ruled the show (like most others this season), with a smattering of glimmer and shine in the dresses and coats especially. Capes, fur-trims and knee length skirts were staple features, as were elbow-length gloves, sweeping backlines, and thin satin dresses worn under thicker, heavier coats. There was romanticism in ruffles, frills and loose bows, that added a touch of delicacy to an otherwise strong collection.

Oh dear God, no.

Today, I completely humiliated myself.
Not even in a 'yeah-that-was-completely-humiliating-but-I'm-over-exaggerating-so-I'm-sure-it'll-be-fine' way, but a 'I'm-not-sure-I'll-ever-be-able-to-show-my-face-again' way.

I threw up, all over myself, in class. There was like no warning, I just threw up into my hands and ran out the room. Sophie followed me, wretching, but ready to aid me if I needed her, and we rushed to the toilets. My trousers had taken the brunt of it, but I'd managed to catch almost all of it and so I thought I was saved. I was completely and ridiculously embarassed, though, and refused to go back to Film. So I went to sit in the library, starting reading November 2004 Vogue (I've been working my way through the College library's back copies), then felt a bit sick again, so rushed back off to the toilets. But it was too late. I was sick once again into my hands, but not so lucky this time round, spilled it onto the floor and all over my trousers, blazer and hair. Hair. I locked myself into a toilet cubicle and called my mum, who didn't pick up.

I was mortified, and didn't want to leave the cubicle because people had seen it happen and were laughing. Laughing. I almost died. Sophie came in to save me again, and some kind girl offered me like a million baby wipes, and I cleaned myself up as best as I could and called my mum, dad and stepdad maybe 10 times each, to no answer. My mum finally called me back and came to pick me up (I think I would have cried if she hadn't, being humiliated as I was, I didn't want to be stuck in sick-covered clothes in college...)

It was awful and I definately never want a repeat performance. I'm the sort of person who has a panic attack at the thought of making a very minor fool of myself in front of other people, so this was just my worst nightmare. Sophie, Alex and Adam said that no one saw and that no one's going to mention it, but I don't know if I'll be able to face them again, like, ever. :(
