once again addressing money issues whilst obsessing over expensive clothes

Being depressingly poor has somehow not stopped me from going shopping, and even if I'd tried to be ignorant of it, it's difficult not to notice the heavy influences of high fashion this season on the high street. Lace, denim, over-sized tshirts with breton stripes, several different takes on nautical, the short trench, and beautiful neutral colours. I am a sucker for minimalism, and I can happily spend a ton of money just on unembellished shirts in a smorgasbord of pastel colours.

... I can't remember where I was going with this, but yeah anyways I think I was just saying that IT IS DEPRESSING that I want to buy EVERYTHING in H&M, New Look and Topshop right now. Especially the former... Everything is so pretty I just want to throw it all into a pile and sit in the middle of it. I don't exactly know what that would achieve, but I feel that it would be incredibly satisfying.

OH AND for the FRTW2010 shows so far, my favourites are A.F. Vandevorst with the beige body armour pieces over flowing, drapey trousers... Plus they drew on their models with chalk which I personally think is pretty immense;

and Elie Saab's ever-beautiful floorlength sheer black gowns that make me wish I was insanely rich just so I can own one. In fact, upon seeing that collection I told my mum...

ME: Mum?
MUM: -pauses tele- yes?
ME: When I'm on the red carpet, I will wear an Elie Saab dress.
MUM: Oh... -rolls eyes and unpauses tele-

Yeah. So. One day I will be on the red carpet for some reason or other, maybe, and then I will wear Elie Saab. Like Rachel McAdams at this year's Oscars, wearing my most favouritest dress ever!! Oh Elie Saab, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

you think you're peter pan, michael, but you're not

I don't know if it's because I'm a completely hopeless romantic, but I found Elie Saab's ethereal Spring Couture 2010 runway devastatingly beautiful. I love the delicate designs, the fairy-princess sway of the enormous skirts of half the dresses, the pastel colours, and Karlie Kloss.

I love the way it seems almost as though a watercolour artist was set loose on the precious fabrics, and the way you can almost hear the swish of the dresses brushing against skin as the models walk, even as the moments are frozen by camera. I love the glistening runway, reflecting the light like water and rippling in the same fashion, as though to immortalise the models and cast them in a holy glow.

I know style.com think it's "a bit too fantasy-prom" but the extravagance of it all makes me feel all excitable, like when I was a little girl oggling over immensely flowery Laura Ashley dresses; I just want to feel the fabric slip through my fingers and wear it even in the most inappropriate weather until I move onto the next coveted clothing item.
