Things that I like.

eh, this is gunna be a pointless pic spam to fill some rather neglected space

Blazers: I wear mine everywhere, it is possibly my main wardrobe staple, either open over a t-shirt and trousers, or buttoned and belted over a dress... I have so many outfits that I seem to complete with my blazer. I just need to build a collection of them now so that I don't feel so repetitive.

Belts: I usually wear belts to cinch in at the waist, to assentuate and create neat lines and a more defined silhouette, because I am so guilty of wearing clothes with no shape, which I bought specifically for the looseness and androgyny, and then belting over them anyway. I especially love leather (or faux leather) ones, generally brown, with a nice buckle, and a vintage air.

Shorts and tights: both of these things, seperately and together. I love them.

White shirts/Menswear in general: I wish I didn't love menswear... I'm not at all interested in male fashion in general for some reason, but I love the mens section on the high street, especially in H&M... They seem to get everything that I long for and it makes me mad >:(

Wedges: My more recent obsession with shoes is both saddening and delightful. I need more.

Floaty dresses: I like to feel girly.

I obviously like more than just this, but if I had my way, I think my wardrobe might be almost entirely made up of these things. Mhm.

so hot it'll melt your popsicle

Uninentionally got distracted from here by my Tumblr...

I know it's pretty dull reading, covering any runway stuff, but so far from Sao Paulo it looks like S/S2011 will be mostly metallic and stripes, which I have to be honest, I'm not digging. I hope they don't ditch the nudes/neutrals/florals from this year entirely, or the whole 'Summer girls wear denim and white' minimalism, because I love the 2010 look :(

have your cake and eat it.

I was watching FashionTV the other day, mostly because nothing was on and even though the post-production of their footage is god awful (hello, Windows Movie Maker), it is the best channel on Sky for showing fashion shows. It was on my tele constantly during Couture week especially, but it also shows a bunch of old collections, often focusing on designer/fashion house history, and it does a lot of model interviews etc too so I do actually really love it.

ANYWAY that's not the point! (Not that there was much of a point in the first place)

Yeah... OH! So I was watching FTV and it was showing various shows from A/W 2001/2, and one of them that caught my attention was the Moschino collection - it was so quirky and fun, and I just really love when designers have fun with their clothes. It's like they're saying 'fashion is meant to be fun, clothes are fun, dressing up is fun, so let's keep it that way'. When I was younger I used to put on my mum's clothes on and make-up and just feel really elegant and grown-up, because I was being 'sophisticated' (but actually was just having huge amounts of fun playing dress-up, just like I'd done with my Barbies when I was even younger). It's funny really because I wasn't ever really very girly, I grew up as one of two girls in a huge family of boys, and so I knew more about wrestlers, footballers and superheroes than I did about the latest My Scene doll, but when I was trying on clothes and being a girl I felt..(I can't think of a word to describe it).

I loved that it started off like, waking up, hair in rollers or tied up messily, a 'Do Not Disturb' mask on, a long knit shawl wrapped over silk pajama suit, then off to work! We're maids and housewives today, so we tie on our little aprons, and whip out the old carpet beater (where would we be without it??) and then we're business women, and sailors... and after work? A night out perhaps? Or a ballet recital? It's all there, ready to wear. :)

I am actually in love with these coats, and the 'Hers and Hers' idea

and that is so Mimi's coat from Rent!!

Rufford Park Medieval Fair

I really love old clothes - not just vintage, but also 18th Century clothes, clothing from medieval times etc... They just have a quality about them that is really beautiful, and I'm constantly wishing for previous-century inspired fashion (which is probably why I loved Alexander Mcqueen's last collection so much).

Anywho, today I went with my family to Rufford Park, where as part of Robin Hood month they were having a Medieval Weekend Fair. We happened upon it entirely by accident, and it was fantastic, with stalls full of filigree and weaponry and cloth and armour... I honestly think I was more excited about it than my 6 year old cousin.

Here are some photos:

I wanted everything, but I couldn't get anything :( So I just had to photo it all instead :D

Check out this guy's beard!

I shouldn't have... But I did.

I saved some money from last month so I could get my year's Gold membership for XBOX360 Live, and I bought it (12+1 months for the same price as 12! -nerd moment-)(and my uncle gave me a free headset so I was all kitted out finally!) and then my mum said she'd give me the money back, and consider it a gift for not burning down the house in the 3 weeks they were gone (12 days in Cyprus, a further week stuck because of the volcanic ash) and I think I deserve it because now that they're back they're driving me absolutely insane!!

But that's not that point... So I have this money, burning a hole in my pocket(or bank) and I got the May ASOS magazine through the post and saw some amazingly cheap and pretty wedges! I've been looking for a pair of affordable wedges for what seems like forever, and well, I had the money so... I went online and bought them. But now I feel bad because I don't like spending money haha. But they reminded me of the Céline wedges from S/S10RTW

Sea of Shoes

(only, y'know, not wooden or studded, or breathtakingly amazing, but it's the thought that counts) and so I had to have them! I've never had a pair of wedges before, I'm excited :D
