Retouching efforts

I decided yesterday that I'm going to dabble in retouching now to make my photography look more professional when I do get around to doing more fashion shoots (I would spend all my time doing this if models weren't thin on the ground... I'm considering posting an advertisement around my college when I get back after Easter haha). With this in mind I browsed through a couple of tutorials, pulled out an old photo of Bee from my external harddrive and spent maybe 40 minutes or so retouching her.

My darling Gama made me a bit of a website with a rollover javascript image showing the before and after of it, because I am hopeless, so here we go: Retouching Example ! Clickity click ;) Hopefully having a reallysuperamazing tea party photoshoot with Phet in a couple of days so I'll post the results of that up soon too :D

Updates and random stuff about horses and whatnot.

I don't really have much to write about at the moment except personal stuff, so I guess that's what I'll do.
I've been busy lately writing a short story for the Bridport Prize :) and doing some other completely awesome stuff that is top secret!

BUT I've been feeling really down too because I've been ill, and on top of that, the horse I look after is up for sale and I might not have her for much longer so I've felt really upset about that. I'm going to be spending as much time as possible with her over the Easter break, so maybe I'll have to make some horse-fashion related posts? ;D And I'm sure all my non-existant readers would love to see some entirely sexy shots of me in my jodhpurs ;) haha

Um, yeah that's it.

OH and P.S. I've been having mixed reactions over whether or not I should cut my hair, but I think I'll do it anyway because I feel pretty excited about it :)

P.P.S. I've applied for a job as a trainee photographer and I had my interview Wednesday so FINGERS CROSSED!

P.P.P.S. I really want to incorporate my photography into this blog somehow, so I really need to get my arse into gear at some stage and arrange some more photo shoots etc...

Hair Dilemma

World, meet my future hair:

I have always wanted a short-cropped pixie hair cut. Always. It is with this thought in mind that I've finally considered cutting all my hair off. Given that my hair is boob-length and hasn't seen above my shoulders for several years, this may seem a little bit drastic, but I am so ready to see the back of it. I can't do anything with it at this length. Well, I can, but I can't be bothered to. I wash it, let it dry, barely run a brush through it, and that's it. My GHD's get the occasional usage, but mostly from my thieving mother, who keeps them in her room for days at a time until I notice they're not gathering dust on my shelves and retrieve them.

So, should I take the plunge?

Dreams ... shattered

tommy ton for style.com

I saw these glove mittens (glittens??) on Tommy Ton's street style shots from Fashion week and fell in love. So I searched like the entire internet looking for them (during English class...) and found that they are Steven Alan, leather and cashmere, and cost $85 (which according to xe.com is 56.5248 GBP)

I don't even buy dresses that cost that much (unfortunately), and even if I did have that sort of money, they're not selling them on his site anymore! So my dreams of having warm and stylish hands next autumn/winter are crushed unless someone sells them on ebay for maybe a tenner in the next 6 months. :'(

Pet hates: Leggings

I'd like to say that I lead an exciting life, and many things I do are of consequence... But I'd be lying. The most I get up to in a day does not really amount to much. I get up, go to college, hang with friends, write, eat, sleep...

But today the thoughts flooding my brain have revolved mostly around how ugly and unflattering leggings can be. I've only had one morning class (English Language) today, and whilst considering ways of confusing my mum by telling her she never respects my negative face in linguistic terms, I managed to pass several girls who seemed to think that leggings are an alternative to trousers or jeans, which I'd say they are not. If anything they're an alternative to tights, and would you wear tights on their own with just a short top? I don't think so. You wear them under shorts or a dress or a skirt, and that is exactly how leggings should be worn, if they really must at all.

I can't really explain my dislike for leggings, it's just one of those things, and I think worn right they can look good... on other people. But not me, because you won't find me wearing them.

Success!

I feel really pleased because I bought Barry M Mint Green nail polish in the hopes of reproducing my own high street version of Chanel Jade (because, as I may possibly have mentioned before -hackcough- I'm poor) and yesterday someone asked me if I was wearing Chanel nail polish!!!!!

once again addressing money issues whilst obsessing over expensive clothes

Being depressingly poor has somehow not stopped me from going shopping, and even if I'd tried to be ignorant of it, it's difficult not to notice the heavy influences of high fashion this season on the high street. Lace, denim, over-sized tshirts with breton stripes, several different takes on nautical, the short trench, and beautiful neutral colours. I am a sucker for minimalism, and I can happily spend a ton of money just on unembellished shirts in a smorgasbord of pastel colours.

... I can't remember where I was going with this, but yeah anyways I think I was just saying that IT IS DEPRESSING that I want to buy EVERYTHING in H&M, New Look and Topshop right now. Especially the former... Everything is so pretty I just want to throw it all into a pile and sit in the middle of it. I don't exactly know what that would achieve, but I feel that it would be incredibly satisfying.

OH AND for the FRTW2010 shows so far, my favourites are A.F. Vandevorst with the beige body armour pieces over flowing, drapey trousers... Plus they drew on their models with chalk which I personally think is pretty immense;

and Elie Saab's ever-beautiful floorlength sheer black gowns that make me wish I was insanely rich just so I can own one. In fact, upon seeing that collection I told my mum...

ME: Mum?
MUM: -pauses tele- yes?
ME: When I'm on the red carpet, I will wear an Elie Saab dress.
MUM: Oh... -rolls eyes and unpauses tele-

style.com

Yeah. So. One day I will be on the red carpet for some reason or other, maybe, and then I will wear Elie Saab. Like Rachel McAdams at this year's Oscars, wearing my most favouritest dress ever!! Oh Elie Saab, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways...
